I am reviewing 'At the Sign of the Sugared Plum ' by Mary Hooper.
This story is set at the time of the plague, when a young girl called Hannah moves to London to live with her sister who owns a sweetmeats shop. Little does she know that the plague is creeping closer and closer, and as people around her begin to die she fears for her whole new life in London with her sister and the doctor's apprentice Tom.
This is a very good book and full of suspense. There is very good use of language, but the ending is a bit disappointing, as it leaves you on a cliff hanger, but in a way that makes you feel as if you are reading an unfinished book rather than leaving it to your imagination
I would recommend this book for mainly girls aged 8-13 and I would rate it 4/5 stars.
www: i thought you had written what the book was about very nicely. I've also read this book. congrats for that.
ReplyDeleteebi: you could have added in a picture of the book
